Tentmaking in general, refers to the activities of any Christian who, while functioning as a minister, receives little or no pay for his or her church work, and supports him or herself by additional, unrelated work. Specifically, tentmaking can also refer to a method of international Christian evangelism in which missionaries support themselves by working full time in the marketplace with their skills and education, instead of receiving financial support from a church. The term comes from the fact that the apostle Paul supported himself by making tents while living and preaching in Corinth (Acts 18:3).
a Missionary is an ambassador of Christ. Each one must be yielded to the
Lord, loving Him with all the heart, soul, mind, and strength. Specifically, a missionary is one whom God sends through the support of the Church or a group of generous Christian to the unreached. All Christians, however, are called to be missionaries of the Gospel. The Lord works through them to rescue the lost.
Missionaries do more than evangelism. The commission was to make disciples, not immature believers. Thus, a Christian missionary’s outreach involves evangelism, discipleship, and church planting. These main goals are accomplished in a variety of ways: street preaching, tract hand-outs, church building, Bible studies, teaching English as a second language, relief projects, children’s clubs, mountain trekking, literacy teaching, radio broadcasting, etc.
be Sender by,
Praying. Prayer is at the heart of the action.certainly important. Without prayer partners we must acknowledge that missions mobilization, on the scale needed, is never going to happen.
Giving . Our giving is one of the most tangible ways we have to demostrate our obedience to the Great Commission. equally importan with the goers, a visible way of expressing to God our interest in seeing the world evangelized. It doesn’t exclude or exempt anyone from giving just because they are poorer or smaller. It can be a faith-building experience as well as you believe and put your faith in Him, He will enable us to give as God promised that He He can “enable ” us to do what He asks of us.
Mobilizing other people. you can also help in sending ministry reports or updates from the field by corresponding with the missionary and you will be the one who will help report and share it back to the prayer and financial partners.
By encouraging others to take part in world missions can be a special calling for you. Another thing mobilizers can do is to advocating for it. You can also help train the future missionaries by educating and help in preparing them.
So how would you like to respond?
Ask God to reveal to you how would you want to take part. Again both the Goer and Sender are equally the same in the sight of our God. This is not a request but a mandate from Him. The Lord will grant us grace, delight, passion and compassion for the lost as we continue to be faithful to this task of reaching the nations.
